The German Healthcare Export Group (GHE) e.V. brings approx. 50 innovative and strongly growing companies from the area of medical technology, which are strongly export oriented, together. The GHE provides these member companies with a platform for exchanging their export business experiences.

The GHE offers customers a wide variety of products and services, from OP equipment to hospital IT, and covers almost the entire medical technology product range.

All in all the association represents around 80 percent by volume of all German exports in the medical technology sector.

Venue and partner is again the Federal Foreign Office, which offers the interested companies together with the two associations an exclusive forum to expand their network and discuss issues of foreign trade.

The opening of this year's Foreign Trade Congress, which is under the main theme "export competence of politics and economy in the dialog" is taken over by Stephan Steinlein, State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office. more …

For the first time, Leica Microsystems in North America offers a custom slide scanning and image hosting service for teachers, which makes it possible to share images within the classroom and to expand learning outside the classroom. Glass slides sent to a scanning center are processed to create high resolution digital image files, which then can be accessed online from a hosted server via any standard internet browser for study by students any time, anywhere. Offering these teaching tools, the company partners with Leica Biosystems, using their Aperio ePathology Solutions which have an established record for providing similar solutions for training doctors in human pathology and disease diagnosis. more …

While debate continues in Germany on exactly how many patients are falling victim to hospital-acquired infections, Meiko – the Offenburg, Germany-based manufacturer of cleaning and disinfection appliances – is busy sharpening its focus on a worldwide goal: "Our job is to do everything we can to break the chain of infection in hospitals," says Markus Braun, head of global sales and marketing in Meiko’s Medical Technology division. It also serves as a compact source for product information. The app is interactively linked to Leica Science Lab and Leica Microsystems’ homepage.
