Bioscientia - International Reference Laboratory
Founded in 1970, Bioscientia (based near Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, Germany) is perhaps the largest purpose-built reference laboratory in Europe with a staff compliment today in excess of 1000 professional and technical personnel. With over 30 years experience in the international market, Bioscientia provides a pathology reference service to a wide range of institutions including universities, military and Ministry of Health hospitals, clinics, laboratories and pharmaceutical companies world-wide.
Since 1981 we have been serving the Middle East as a reference laboratory – serving the major large hospitals as well as the smaller private hospitals and clinics. The service is the same to them all; quality results, fast and accurate reporting, interpretation assistance of result constellations if required and local offices to ease and lower the cost of communication.
Due to the high level of technology and computerisation, samples are processed both efficiently and economically. Most results are available within 24 hours from receipt of specimen.
Our test spectrum ranges from clinical chemistry to human genetics - a field in which we are expanding our services. We have an extensive molecular cytogenetic division and large laboratory specialising in Hepatitis and HIV diagnostic by PCR as well as offering Chlamydia, HLA typing, Mycobacteria TB and more by PCR.
Many laboratories cannot process the more esoteric or specialist investigations themselves and therefore rely upon external laboratories to perform those analyses. Bioscientia houses the most modern facilities and over 90% of the samples referred to us are processed within our laboratories, thereby avoiding the annoyance and inconvenience caused due to lost samples or delayed reports.
Specimens are collected and shipped to Germany where they are processed within 24 hours for the majority of investigations. Bioscientia provides all necessary packing materials, sample containers and personalised request forms. A complete Test List is also provided showing reference ranges, sample requirements and approximate turnaround times. This data is also available electronically.
As part of our commitment to quality assurance, Bioscientia is CAP (College of American Pathologists) accredited and CLIA registered. Bioscientia also participates in many national and international quality control programs, thereby ensuring that the standard of quality within the Institute has been subjected to rigorous external scrutiny. We are part of the Sonic Healthcare Group and are a member of the German Healthcare Export Group (GHE) which was founded in 1991 to help promote German medical companies abroad and are also a member of the European Association of Reference Laboratories.
